Update runs
You can update your destinations using two methods:
- Manual updates
- Scheduled updates
Once your presentation is ready to be updated, you can head to your destination page on Rollstack and click on the Update button
Note: You can also run updates on selected vizualisations or slides:
All visualizations are run in parallel and our workflow engine is optimized to reduce
- the number of dashboards we open
- the number of queries we send to your data source API
In some specific instances, if your data source instance is not able to handle too many queries in parallel, we can reduce the workload and improve the deliverability of your updates
When the update finishes, you will see the status of each visualization both on the top notch, the Update Runs sections.
You can configure your presentation to run on a schedule through your destination's scheduling settings.
When the presentation is updated, we will notify you by email in case of failure (e.g. at least one visualization failed)
Similarly to manual updates you will get a detailed explanation of the failures.
You can find the update details in both:
- the destination's Update History tab
- Your personal Update Runs tab
Please refer to the section Update runs to understand the reason behind every
The destination update can have three states:
- Completed: ALL the visualizations were successfully updated
- Partially completed: At least ONE visualization failed
- Failed: ALL visualizations failed
For each visualization, you will get either a Completed or Failed state.
For Failed we will generally provide one of this explanation
Error | Description | Action Item |
(Dashboard) Element was not found | The element does not exist anymore in the dashboard | You should delete this sync from Rollstack |
Dashboard was not found | Dashboard does not exist anymore in your data source | You should delete this sync and any other syncs attached to this dashboard |
Dashboard failed to load correctly | Dashboard exists but cannot load | Please check if your dashboard loads correctly |
Dashboard took too long to load | Dashboard took longer than 10 minutes to load | Please reduce the number of visualizations or queries running on that dashboard |
Visualisation was not found | Element still exists in the API but we cannot find it when opening the dashboard | Please reach out to us for further investigation. |
Visualisation took too long to load | The visualisation exists but never finished loading | The visualization probably has a broken or complex query that needs to be reviewed |
If you need any guidance, don't hesitate to reach out to us so we can guide you through a resolution
You can retrieve your update history on both:
- The Update runs page: Shows all your destination's history updates
- The Update runs tab inside a destination: Only shows the update history of one destination
Both can help you navigate through your historical runs
